Freight is a promise about time that somebody has to physically keep.
We file in our own name
Our Customs Broker licence, our F-card holders, our liability. Nothing is sub-let to an agent whose errors quietly become your penalty.
We quote what we hold
Allocation comes from service contracts we sign directly with the lines, so the rate and the sailing survive the gap between quotation and gate-in.
We tell you early
A rollover you hear about on Tuesday is a problem. The same rollover you hear about on Friday is a claim. We call on Tuesday.
Two desks on the Mumbai docks.
In 1998 the Mumbai docks still ran on paper, patience and the particular knowledge of men who knew which window opened at which hour. Ocean Transport began there with two desks, one commodity and one exporter who had been let down often enough to try someone new.
We did not set out to become a national forwarder. We set out to stop that exporter's cargo sitting at the shed, and the work that followed came from people who had watched us do it.
Twenty-seven years and six offices later, the method has not changed much. Someone from this company is physically present where your cargo is — at the hook, at the shed, at the gate — because that is still the only reliable way to know what is actually happening to it.
Presence
Someone from this company stands where the cargo is. Supervision is not a phone call.
Candour
We report the delay, the damage and the error we caused, in that order, on the day it happens.
Custody
Documents, duties and deadlines are held as obligations with names against them, not as tasks in a queue.
Precision
The right HS heading before the cargo ships costs a week. The wrong one costs a month of detention.
The long lane
We price for the relationship that lasts a decade, not the shipment that closes this quarter.
Two generations, and the people they hired.

Mostly they mention the phone call.
“They called us about a rollover four days before it happened. Our previous forwarder used to call four days after.”
“The HS classification argument we had been losing for two years, they settled in one meeting with a ruling application.”
“Two hundred tonnes of press line, six state permits, one route survey. It arrived on the day they said in the first quotation.”
“They found four years of unclaimed drawback in our old files during onboarding. It paid for the relationship several times over.”
“Our buyer's consolidation runs from six suppliers in three states into one box. We stopped counting part-load invoices.”
“When the reefer genset failed at the ICD, someone from Ocean Transport was standing there before we had finished reading the alert.”
